The 1914 Star awarded to Bugle Major Serjeant Fred Hogg, 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry, who Died of Wounds received in the attack at Ferme du Bois, Richebourg, on the 17/18th May 1918, Bugle Major, Serjeant Hogg was posted wounded and missing on the 18th of May but just simply disappeared, comprising, 1914 Star, (9590 Sjt F. Hogg. 2/High: L.I.), very fine (1)
Frederick Hogg joined the Army on the 29th of October 1904 at the age of 15 years and 5 days; his Trade was given as “Boy”. He landed in France on the 13th of August 1914. He was posted as Wounded and Missing on the 18th of May 1915. His family asked the Red Cross to find him after he became Wounded and missing as of 18th May 1915. He was never found. He was a Bugle Major when he died. He is recoded in de Ruvigny, as wounds received at Richebourg. He was the son of Margaret Hogg of 118, Potterrow, Edinburgh and the late Alexander Hogg, he is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial to the Missing, he was 26 years old.
