Description
The 1914 Star awarded to Private, later Lance Corporal, Albert Hirst, 2nd Battalion West Riding Regiment who was wounded with a Gun Shot Wound to his lung, on the 30th of November 1917, and spent nearly 8 months in hospital before being Discharged on the 29th of July 1918 comprising, 1914 Star, (7555 Pte A. Hirst. 2/W. Rid: R.), very fine (1)
Albert Hirst joined the West Riding Regiment on the 31st of July 1903, at Wakefield he transferred to the Army Reserve after service in India in 1904/05 on the 31st of July 1906. He was Mobilised at Halifax on the 5th of August 1914 and landed in France on the 11th of September 1914. He was Wounded in Action with a Gun Shot Wound to his lung on the 30th of November 1917 and was Discharged due to wounds on the 29th of July 1918. He was issued Silver War Badge no. 431002. He Died on the 12th of December 1950.
