The Queen’s South Africa Medal awarded to Private J. Duffy, 1st Battalion South Lancashire Regiment who was Killed in Action at the taking of Botha’s Pass on the 8th of June 1900 comprising, Queen’s South Africa Medal, 1899-1902, 3rd type, three clasps, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, (5621 Pte J. Duffy. S. Lanc: Regt), impressed naming very fine (1)
The South Lancashire Regiment took part in General Hildyard's march from Ladysmith to Newcastle, his operations in the Wakkerstroom district, in the taking of Botha's Pass, and the turning of Laing's Nek.
