Description
1894 Reuter's Telegraph Service complete unused sheet of 18, consisting of three strips of 10s, 5s and 2s6d, with the 10s inscribed Bulawayo-Ramaquabane, 5s Bulawayo-Mangwe, and the 2s6d Bulawayo-Mangwe and Fig Tree, with original acacia gum on reverse. These were used on messages carried by runners from Bulawayo while the telegraph line was being constructed. As the line was progressively completed, the higher values became invalid because of the reduced distance the message had to be carried. The sheet is numbered 42 in red crayon in the upper right corner and attached to a sheet in the margins by adhesive - (the lower right corner has been damaged and separated but this does not affect the stamps). Only two complete sheets are believed to have survived, thus rare, SG T1-3
