The Queen’s South Africa Medal awarded to Private Percy May 2nd Battalion the Devonshire Regiment who was Killed in Action at Standerton on the 31st of January 1901 comprising Queen’s South Africa Medal, 1899-1902, 3rd type, one clasp, Transvaal, (5426 Pte P. May. Devon: Regt.), impressed naming, edge bump 4 o, clock does not impact naming, otherwise, very fine (1)
Percy May, according to the entry in the Personal Effects Book, states that he was Killed at Standerton on the 31st of January 1901, The Boer War Casualty Roll by Alexander M Palmer states that he was Killed at Standerton but on the 1st of February 1901.
Private May is also entitled to a King’s South Africa Medal, Sold with Copy Medal Rolls confirming the single clasp Transvaal and Copy Effects Register
