William Henry Wakeling was born on the 29th of September 1880 in Leatherhead, Surrey, he stated he was a Labourer when he enlisted on the 29th of September 1898 for 12 years. He served on various ships until 1909 when he re-engaged on the 30th of September to complete 22 years. He served aboard H.M. Ships Juno, Odin and Prosperine during the Great War Odin was part of the Indian Expeditionary Force “D” in Mesopotamia during 1916 when Wakeling was abord.
