The Rare and Interesting RAF Wireless Operator Air Gunner, Air Signaller Group of 5 awarded to Flight Sergeant Alverton John James RAF who trained as a Wireless Operator Air Gunner who flew 21 Operational Sorties with 320 Dutch Squadron from September 1944 to the 26th f November 1944 attacking, among others, Breskens, Bergen Op Zoom, Walcheren Dam, Boulogne Enemy Strong Point, Arnhem, Venlo Roermond and Rheydt. When the War was over, he remained in the RAF and his Log Book Shows a Lincoln Crew Classification as Signaller – Combat Crew. He flew as part of 148 Squadron in 16 Jungle Strikes in 1955 comprising, 1939-45 Star, France & Germany Star, 1939-45 Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal, all unnamed as issued General Service Medal, 1918-62, EiiR, one clasp Malaya, (1314105 F. Sgt. A.J. James. R.A.F.), contemporarily mounted for wear, toned fine (5)
Alverton John James died aged 96.
Sold with two Flying Log Books, (Book 1 and Book 3) Book 2 is not with the group, obituary from local paper and circa 60 Original photographs, many in uniform and in aircraft, Radio Trades Examination Board Certificate.
