Description
The 1914 Star awarded to Private Sidney Bentley who landed in France with the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry on the 21st of August 1914 was present in the Action at Mons, wounded, Gun Shot Wound Back, in May 1915, transferred to the 8th Battalion the Devon Regiment and was Killed in Action on the 27th of March 1917 comprising, 1914 Star, (10366 Pte S. Bentley. 1/D. Of. Corn: L.I.), very fine (1)
Private Bentleys Body was found by a Graves Registration Unit in a Field in March 1919 with the bodies of L/Cpl Stone and Private Timms all from the 8th Battalion Devons they were exhumed and interred in H.A.C. Cemetery, Ecoust-St. Mein, Private Bentley now lies in Plot 3 Row G Grave 30.
