The 1914 Star awarded to Private, later Lance Corporal Alfred Girling, 1st Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment who landed in France on the 8th of November 1914, transferred to the Worcester Regiment and the Labour Corps and whose name appears in the Police Gazette under the Heading Status: "Named in list of "Deserters and Absentees from His Majesty's Service". Date of Desertion 6th of February 1917 from the 3rd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment at Grimsby comprising, 1914 Star, (7864 Pte A. Girling. 1/ Lincs: R.), very fine (1)
