The 1914 Star awarded to Lance Corporal Frederick Holborn, 2nd Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers, who was Killed in Action on the 23rd of March 1918 the second day of the 1918 German Spring Offensive, Kaiserschlacht, comprising, 1914 Star, (10243 L. Cpl F. Holborn. 2/R. Sc: Fus.), very fine (1)
The War Diary of the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers just really records an awful Hellish time of shell fire, machine gun and Rifle.
Serjeant Frederick Holborn was the son of Mr and Mrs Holborn of 22, Usk Street, Green Street, Bethnal Green Road, London. His body was not located after the War and he is Commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial to the Missing, Somme, France, he was 26 years old. He had been in France since the 6th of October 1914.
