The 1914 Star awarded to Corporal, later Serjeant, Edwin J. Walker, 6th later 4th Battalion Royal Scots who was Discharged with Shell Shock in 1919 comprising 1914 Star, (1578 Cpl E.J. Walker. 6/ R. Scots.), very fine, The 1914 Star awarded to Private William Watson, 2nd Battalion Durham Light Infantry, who was Wounded in 1915 by a Gun Shot Wound to the Head, and When Finally discharged to Pension he had also been Gassed comprising 1914 Star, (8895 Pte W. Watson. 2/Durh: L.I.), very fine (2)
Serjeant Edwin Walker enlisted into the Royal Scotson the 2nd of April 1913 he landed in France on the 5th of November 1914; he was Discharged with Silver War Badge number 478520 on the 7th of February 19199 suffering from Neurasthenia– Shell Shock.
Private William Watson landed in France on the 1st of November 1914 he was hospitalised in August 1915 when they were still using codes for wounds. His entry shows (1) Slight, which translated according to the key to GSW to the head. Eventually he transferred to the Labour Corps from DLI – His Pension Card gives synovitis and gassing as his disabilities.
