Albert Alfred Bye was born on the 1st of December 1889 in Winchester, Hants. When he joined the Royal Navy on the 1st of December 1907, he stated he was an Assistant Engine Driver. He served from December 1907 to March 1923, serving on 19 Ships H.M.S Philomel from 27th July 1909 to the 6th of October 1912. During The Great War he served, mostly, aboard H.M.S. Britannia. He re-enlisted on the 25th of August 1939 and served until the 15th of January 1941 when he was invalided to Shore with a Duodenal Ulcer.
