The Military Medal 1914 Star Group of 4 to Serjeant Samuel Mortimer “A” Battery Royal Horse Artillery and “B” Battery 77th Brigade Royal Field Artillery who appears in two Wounded Lists during 1918 comprising Military Medal, GVR, (52605 Sjt: S. Mortimer. R.F.A.), 1914 Star, (52605 Gnr. S. Mortimer. R.H.A.) 1914-1920 British War Medal (52605 Sjt. S. Mortimer. R.A.), 1914-1919 Victory Medal, (63309 Sjt, G. Mortimer. R.A.), note different name on Victory, see below, very fine (4)

52605 Sjt. Mortimore S., “B” By., 77th Bde. (Canning Town)
Samuel Mortimer a pre-war Regular soldier landed in France on the 11th of November 1918. His name appears in the Casualty list as wounded on the 7th of May 1918 and the 6th of December 1918. His Brother was 63309 Serjeant George Mortimer, Royal Garrison Artillery, his name appears in the Casualty list of the 15th of December 1917. Perhaps they swapped Victory Medals after the War.
