Coventry, Robert Reynolds & Co. contemporary copy of Halfpenny 1793, Lady Godiva on horse, rev. Coventry arms – elephant (different style) and castle, edge PAYABLE AT BIRMINGHAM LONDON OR BRISTOL, 30mm/9.99gm. (DH 238). Another the same but edge PAYABLE AT NUNEATON HINKLEY ///// OR ///BEDWORTH, 30mm/9.03gm. (DH 238b). Another the same but edge diagonally milled, 29.7mm/9.43gm. (DH 238e) Another the same but unpublished edge – plain, 29mm/10.14gm. (DH 238var). Another similar but legend spaced slightly differently and edge diagonally milled to right, 30mm/9.10gm. (DH 240). Another the same but edge diagonally milled to left, 30mm/9.98gm. (DH 240a). Another but further spacing differences and edge diagonally milled to right, 29.5mm/9.55gm. (DH 241c). Another the same but edge diagonally milled to left, 30mm/9.47gm. (DH 241d), all generally Extremely Fine for issue as a struck a little weakly, all toned except for DH 238b which is better struck and has traces of lustre, DH 238var extremely rare ‘RRR’, rest scarce. DH 238, 238b,238e, 238var, 240 and 241d all ex F S Cokayne Col., his tickets – DH 238var bought 28 Nov 1936 for 30/-. Acquired AHB c. 1946.
