The Military Cross and Great War Trio awarded to Lieutenant John Blair Rodger, 2nd Scottish Horse Yeomanry awarded the MC for “Bringing in wounded under heavy fire and for holding a Trench against heavy odds in Gallipoli”. Comprising Military Cros, GVR, unnamed as issued, 19145 Star, (2.Lieut. J.B. Rodger. 2-Sco, H.), 1914-1920 British War Medals, with Mentioned in despatches Emblem, (Lieut. J.B. Rodger) very fine (4)

Second-Lieutenant John Blair Rodger, Scottish Horse, who has been awarded the Military Cross for bringing in wounded under heavy fire, and for holding a trench against heavy odds in Gallipoli is the younger son of Mrs Rodger, Bothkennan, Helensburgh. His brother, Major H.T. Rodger was last year appointed to the command of the 3rd Battalion Scottish Rifles.

2nd Scottish Horse
17 August 1915 : dismounted and sailed on “Transylvania” from Devonport. Went via Malta and re-equipped as infantry for service at Gallipoli.
2 September 1915 : landed at Suvla Bay, where brigade came under orders of 2nd Mounted Division.
28 December 1915: evacuated from Gallipoli and moved to Egypt.
