The Tragic Great War Military Cross, World War Two, Territorial Decoration Group of 11 awarded to Lieutenant Colonel, Brevet Colonel Dr. John Oscar Thomas. Royal Army Medical Corps Commanding Officer of 16 General Hospital Middle East formerly Commanding Officer of No 140 (County of London) Field Ambulance; who “dressed a wounded officer and man under Heavy fire” to receive his MC, served at Dunkirk in 1940 and in North Africa in World War Two and who lost his life whilst swimming at Herne Bay in September 1944 comprising, Military Cross, GVR, unnamed as issued, 1914-15 Star, (Lieut. J.O. Thomas. R.A.M.C.), 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medal, (Capt. J.O.
