Charles I (1625-49), Halfcrown, 1643, Oxford mint, crowned armoured King on horseback left with upright sword and flowing sash, no groundline, plume behind, legend and beaded borders surrounding, initial mark Oxford plume on obverse only, CAROLVS DG MAG BRIT FR ET HIB REX. Rev, declaration in two lines, RELIG: PROT: LEG / ANGL: LIBER: PAR, three Oxford plumes above, date below, legend reads EXVRGAT DEVS DISSIPENTVR INIMICI, 14.78g (S.2954; N.2413; cf. Brooker 888-890; Morrison D-3 dies). Light steel grey cabinet tone on a somewhat irregular flan. Weakness in parts of King and some softness in sections of reverse, otherwise very fine in its overall condition and state, rare.
