Charles I (1625-49), Halfcrown, 1642, Shrewsbury mint, crowned armoured King on horseback left with upright sword and flowing sash, groundline, no plume in field, legend and beaded borders surrounding, initial mark Shrewsbury plume on obverse only, CAROLVS DG MAG BRIT FR ET HIB REX. Rev, declaration in two lines, RELIG: PROT: LEG / ANGL: LIBER: PAR, three Shrewsbury plumes above, date below, legend reads EXVRGAT DEVS DISSIPENTVR INIMICI, 12.50g (S.2934; N.2378; Brooker 825; Morrison F4 dies). Toned, pleasing detail, a knot of distortion in front of King, legends legible. Rev, precise rendition of the declaration with the three Shrewsbury Plumes all visible, some weakness in the initial date numerals. Bold fine for issue, slightly short of flan, rare.
