Eadgar (959-75), Penny, Reform coinage small cross type, (972/3-975), Bedford mint, moneyer Beornwine, inner linear circles both sides, diademed bust left reads +EΛDGΛR REX ΛNGLORX. Rev, moneyer and mint signature surrounds small cross pattée, +BEORNPINE M‑O BEDA, 1.52g (S.1141; N.752; BMC VI; SCBI. -; Spink Plate coin). Fully centred strike on a symmetrical flan, good detail in the bust, Kings expression vivid with intelligible legends. Rev, moneyer mint signature clear with a pleasing golden undertone in the periphery, few die breaks. Bold very fine, at the time the moneyer unknown for mint and type. Rare.
