Stanley Gibbons Baldwin's are proud to announce four White Glove Auctions in the space of just one week, a truly remarkable feat which further reinforces our reputation as one of the foremost multi-category auction houses in the world of collectables. 100% sales in Coins, Tokens and Stamps were complimented by a successful first foray into Sports Trading Cards, joining Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering and Comics as part of our expanding Pop Culture department.
The Rebaczonok Collection
The first White Glove Auction was achieved Thursday 25th September. As the official sponsors of Coinex, Stanley Gibbons Baldwin’s auctioned The Rebaczonok Collection of Russian, European, and American coins. Among the 350+ lots were coins of the Russian Empire, including many examples appearing at auction for the very first time. The final hammer total of over £503,000 more than doubled the low estimate, with many items seeing spirited bidding.
Ema Šikić, Head of World Coins remarked “A fantastic turnout for our official Coinex auction, the Rebaczonok Collection. It was a white glove sale - all lots were sold, and we more than doubled the low estimate for the coins. Overall, a fantastic result for this lovely and academic collection.”
The Crown Coin
A remarkable piece of numismatic history was made offered to market shorlty after the conclusion of The Rebaczonok Collection. The Crown Coin, a testament to global artistry, was brought to life through the work of over 80 artisans across eight countries, incorporating 3.61 kilograms of gold and 6,426 diamonds totalling 483.57 carats. Independently valued at £16m, the unique coin was sold for an undisclosed fee. Thos who created it stated "It is highly unlikely that anything of this vision, scale and opulence will again be attempted or achieved" and we certainly agree."
