At Stanley Gibbons Baldwin’s, what motivates us is the pursuit of the next great auction or being able to offer an exciting item through our retail channels - that excitement is shared across every department, every category, and in every sale we curate.
Looking back at Q2 of 2026, I think about the fantastic auctions we have produced, the events we have attended, and the steps forward we have taken as a business. While the pace at Stanley Gibbons Baldwin’s is always dynamic, the momentum we have built over the first half of this year is something I am proud of.
We are currently navigating a landmark period of strategic change. Throughout our 170-year history, the business has never rested on its laurels, and 2026 is shaping up to be a definitive year of transformation and global growth.
As market leaders, we are expanding into new categories to embrace the next generation of collecting. Trading cards and comic books continue to be key areas of growth, but we are equally focused on implementing technological solutions to enhance our foundational categories: coins and stamps.
We are building something we are calling SG Collect. The simplest way to describe it is the Stanley Gibbons catalogue brought to life. From our first catalogue produced in 1865, we have over 160 years of knowledge and data that has lived on the page, now turned into a useful, innovative tool that can benefit both existing and new collectors. More details will be announced in the coming months.
Alongside this digital advancement, brand integration remains a core focus for 2026. We have made the strategic decision to bring our various brands together under a single, cohesive banner by the end of the year. This consolidation is data-driven, informed by extensive research with our existing clients alongside an independent YouGov survey, and it is entirely focused on our customers. Our aim is to ensure a seamless, consistent, and premium experience across every category we operate in.
Progress in Q2 2026
Throughout the second quarter, our specialists and leadership teams have travelled globally to participate in international events, connect with existing clients, and meet new collectors.
The Boston 2026 World Expo was a resounding success and one of our largest exhibition presences in over a decade. In addition to securing several significant collections, we successfully launched the new edition of the Concise stamp catalogue, which was exceptionally well received by the international philatelic community.
We also celebrated remarkable auction results in Q2. Our Coins department achieved a hammer total exceeding £500,000, driven by the prestigious Abbey Welsh Collection and the highly anticipated sale of a magnificent AV Noble. On the philatelic side, our Stamps department delivered standout performances, anchored by the successful sales of both the David Wilmer and Juna Mahal collections.
In Europe, the team attended Comic Con Stockholm, showcasing lots from our upcoming comic book auctions. Our specialised comic book department was on hand to engage with a passionate, growing audience, further solidifying ourselves in this market.
Heading into Q3 2026
The upcoming quarter brings several milestones for the business. We are finalising plans for our first live international auction in recent times – The Pantheon Collection of Italian States is scheduled to take place in Prague on the 5th of September, at the incredible Municipal House during Biennale 2026. More details on the event will be shared shortly.
Our global expansion moves forward with the recent opening our new office in Singapore. We have successfully recruited key regional specialists, who will complement our UK operations while introducing specialised, localised expertise in banknotes and other new categories.
Our Q3 auction calendar is already looking busy. On July 22nd, we will host a major British, Ancient & World Coins sale, featuring several extraordinary rarities. We’re also working on highly anticipated auctions that focus on Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon Trading Cards, and select comic books. In September, we will host the Clandestine Operations sale of rare military medals. Finally, our first auction in Singapore is due to take place - The Orchard Road Collection of Malaya Revenues.
