<p>1879 Lewes Old Bank £5 provincial banknote dated 11 Nov 1879, bearing GB Banknote Duty Revenue special Embossing Die for 1s3d Booth type GD16c, in vermilion (the colour used after 1875). Endorsed ‘Paid' at lower right with ‘Withyham’ cds at upper left dated "FEB 26 84" and handstamped ‘CANCELLED’. &nbsp;Usual creasing and soiling for these rare notes, still a lovely example of this seldom seen embossed issue.</p>
