c.1930/40s The Associated Printers, Madras, printers sample book (257x380mm) of postal, fiscal, court fee papers and postal stationery, predominantly depicting Maharaja Rama Varma III, with specimens of issued stamps and officials, with printers samples of papers for court fees (with notations on shades of paper “will be slightly whiter”), court fee labels (to be printed in all colour), postal stationery cards with a KGV 9p card (with reply card) as an example for proposed 4p reply cards. Nearly all items bearing ASSOCIATED PUBLISHERS (MADRAS) LTD ASSOCIATED PRINTERS DEPT. straight-line handstamp in violet, and signed below by the manager. Some with perf ’CANCELLED' or large serifed ‘SAMPLE’ opts in red. Some faults and age-related wear as to be expected. A rare sample book.
