<p>c.1887 75c left marginal imperforate strip of six each showing a different SURCHARGE ESSAY, and handstamped 'SPECIMEN' Samuel type 9. This precise strip illustrated in Booth, (p. 586) who suggests it to be 'unique' - although it is now known that four such strips were prepared in the top four rows of a sheet of 120. The top row remains intact as does the lower seven rows which do not have the essay setting) meaning this is one of just four possible strips in this form. Vertical crease through position 3, still a highly desirable and most unusual overprint trial.</p>
