Description
1944 (13th Jun) India KGVI 1½a postal stationery envelope, endorsed ‘Registered’ and addressed to Dungarpur, uprated by India KGVI 1940-43 9p & 1½a pair, tied by Petladra R.S (cds= Railway State) cds for 13 JUN, with Imperial Dungarpur arrival cds for 16 Jun 1944. Re-used upon arrival, with pink economy label attached (now partially removed) bearing Dungarpur 1939-46 ½a vermilion, Die I Perf 10½ and 1a deep blue Perf 10½, tied by crisp strike from state cds for 21 Jun 1944. Cover opened for display, with rough edges/tears (from removal of the economy label), still an attractive and rare re-usage. Not a true combination cover, but one of only three such covers known to us with the original India franking preserved. SG 10b & 11b
