1860 (29 Dec) large part entire from Hong Kong to Boston via Singapore, “Heard” correspondence (datelined Hong Kong, Dec 29 1860), endorsed “Via Marseilles” and franked by India 1855 8a carmine/blue glazed and 1856-66 1a brown and 4a black, each cancelled by “B-172” octagon, showing on face red crayon “1/7” rating, “LONDON / PAID” cds (FE 12 61), “16 / CENTS” accountancy h/s in red (2 strikes, one applied over the 4a) and handstruck “5”, on reverse “SINGAPORE / P.O.” despatch cds and Boston arrival (MAR 1) cds; small piece missing from the reverse, still most appealing.
