USA: 1899 printed envelope from Jersey City to New York with stamp floated off cancelled by Jersey City machine cancel for OCT 30, carried by the paddle steamer ''Chicago'' which sank in the Hudson River after collision with ''S.S. City of Augusta'' reverse bearing label inscribed ''This piece of mail was damaged through the sinking of the Penn. R.R. ferryboat ''Chicago'', which occurred at about 12;45am on October 31st, 1899, Cornelius Van Cott, Postmaster". Scarce.
