Fiftieth Balloon of the Siege: 1870 entire letter re-addressed to London and bearing Ceres 20c Republic, (under paying the overseas rate) tied by Star mark with Paris Rue Serpente cds for 26 Dec, and carried on the Balloon 'Tourville' which departed Paris on 27 Dec, handstamped 'Affranchissement Insuffisant' with More to Pay at lower right and charged 4d in manuscript on arrival, backstamped with Shipletter London and London arrival marks for JA 6, very fine. An attractive item.
