Forty-third Balloon of the Siege: 1870 printed Ballon Monte lettersheet to Dieppe franked by Napoleon III 20c Empire, tied by 2488 numeral and Paris Montmarte cds for 15 Dec, carried on the Balloon 'Parmentier' which departed Paris on 17 Dec, with Dieppe arrival mark for 31 Dec, item offered with a English translation of the original contents, a father writing to his daughter describing the conditions and anxieties of Paris whilst under siege and his hope for a swift end to the conflict.
