1855 1d Red-brown. Very fine used example lettered GD, tied to a small envelope by a Colsterworth "215" numeral Addressed to Hednesford nr Rugeley and backstamped by a Colsterworth dispatch cds, Grantham & Stafford transit cds's and a Rugeley arrival cds for JA.26-27.1855. Sent from John Parsons-Cook, the last victim of Dr William Palmer the "Rugeley Poisoner". To William Saunders a Horse trainer, the letter mainly regarding Handicaps and Race Meetings also bears a mention of the "Dr" himself. Offered with a 2001 GSM article on this cover & the "Rugeley poisoner". A truly fascinating correspondence with such close ties to one of the most infamous serial murders of the 19th century.
