ROYALTY: 1940 Christmas Card, bearing gold imperial crown motif, sent and signed by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother), with printed message 'With Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year' signed in black M/S George R.I and Elizabeth R. Card also displays a photograph of the King and Queen inspecting the bomb damage to Buckingham Palace after it was hit during an air raid, this event famously led the Queen to remark that ''I am glad we have been bombed; now we can look the East End in the eye!''. A fine and interesting piece.
