1930 (c) 3c US Reply Postal Card to California, uprated with 1d  cancelled by violet 'GILBERT & ELLICE ISLANDS COLONY, P. O. TABITEUEA' undated hs. The message from the postmaster refers to cancelling his order. As the reply card was prepaid, it is interesting that a postmaster would put an additional stamp on. Presumably, being a small place (European population in the 1930's was 4!) he thought that going to a non-commonwealth country the postage should be higher. A very rare item, probably unique from this country
