1891 (JY 11) cover to London franked at 2½d rate by 1885-87 1d brownish claret vertical pair (from left of the sheet with imperf margin) and single bisected diagonally, tied by three strikes of ‘First Bisect’ cork cancel (Barnes 1/90) with very fine type F2 dispatch cds at left. Red London arrival backstamp of 'AU 11 91' on reverse. The piece with the stamps neatly cut out then hinged back into place, and minor creasing, still a fresh and attractive example of this provisional usage. SG 8a cat £4,000
