Postal history. 1674-1854 stampless selection of twelve entires including 1674 letter from Whitehall to Scotland with no postal markings, Bishop marks 1703 (2 Oct) and 1745 (19 Dec) both from London to Edinburgh, 1780 (c.) bearing ‘WEXFORD’ straight-line handstamp and large ‘A.P/9’, 1823 (27 Mar) Soldier's letter bearing ‘NEWPORT I.W./105’ mileage mark and Glasgow transit, 1827 from Madras to London bearing double-lined ‘INDIA LETTER/PORTSMOUTH’ boxed handstamp, 1846 (19 May) from Liverpool to Evesham with hand-drawn caricature of a postage stamp inscribed ‘FREE/ONE/BLUE MAGNUM/PENNY’, 1848 to New York bearing red ‘PAID AT/LIVERPOOL/MR 10 1848’ octagonal, US large ‘7’ and British rate mark and 1854 to New York bearing London despatch and New arrival ds, ‘3/CENTS’ cursive tax mark.
