Description
1820s to 1880s mint and used old-time collection with postal history housed in two Godden albums, including pre-stamp entire letter/covers, predominately interval with new internationals (Italy, France, etc…) showing assorted postal and transit markings, numeral handstamps, straight lined ‘MEXIO’, ‘Franco/Vallina’, eagle ‘Tesoreria General’ oval cachets in black, with strength in 1870s District Posts issues, with many examples (imperf and perf types) used on cover, registered covers (some colourful frankings), 1872 no wmk types to 50c, 1872 6c green unused vertical pair with portion of the ‘PAP’ for ‘Papel Sellado’ wmk, 1872 50c blue ‘error of colour’ unused (Scott 96e cat $725 with Philatelic Foundation cert. 1960), with 1873 25c red, 50c yellow and 100c grey on large piece, 1982 50c yellow on cover (scarce stamp on cover), examples of the 6c and 25c (with accompanying RPS certs) showing lithographic retouches and flaws, sampling of later issues to early 1880s. Mixed condition, with many fine, a great old-time collection.
