1857 Overseas mail. Cover sent from Exeter to Prahran, Melbourne, Australia bearing a 6d lilac on azure paper, neatly tied by an Exeter "285" sideways duplex for DE 22 1857, backstamped by London transit cds for DE 23 57, and a Prahran/Victoria arrival datestamp for MA 12 1858. Adhesive with a few short perfs at foot and cover missing flap and exploded for presentation, still a collectable example of this difficult issue on cover to a scarce destination. SG 70a.
