1840 1d Mulready lettersheet to London with printed advertisement for the Scottish Provident Institution in blue, uprated by 1d black, plate 5 (EJ), close to good margins with a small nick in second “N” of penny, cancelled contrary to regulations as only the adhesive was struck by a black Dundee Maltese Cross. Backstamped by boxed despatch for JY 5 1841, Edinburgh transit and London arrival datestamps for the two following days.
