Telegraphs. 1860 (Jan) "ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH" 4r reddish purple on blue glazed, USED LEFT HALF with part "JA(cobabad)" boxed cancel, showing part "7(1)" year date at foot. Some toning (with traces of printed form on reverse), still sound and a great rarity, providing evidence of continued use of the issue after the introduction of the double head series in 1869. Ex Sturton, and believed to be an example referred to by Hausburg p.159. [We have recorded two whole examples used with M/S cancels, but bisected usage as here may be even rarer.]
