Description
Caricatour Magazine #1 & #2 (Contemporary Publications Inc, 1968).
Caricatour was a 1960s monthly contemporary political and social satirical magazine, with Harry Lax and Art Pottier as publishers. These magazines are pieces of history featuring news from around the world, the Vietnam War and American civil right movement.
Caricatour #1 from May 1968 focusing on the Vietnam War. The cover shows President Johnson denying a ‘change’ of heart from well known doctors from the 1950s. With (in this cataloguers opinion) an iconic drawing of Eartha Kitt smiling at President Johnson after their famous ‘confrontation’ at a White House Luncheon.
Caricatour #2 from June 1968, this magazine advocates black (ink) power! There isn't information about the cover in the comic, my theory is it is an image of H. Rap Brown in a satirical ‘Uncle Sam We Need You’. The interior page of the back cover includes a pin-up style image of Governor George Wallace.
These comics around a 3.5, VG-. There is browning to the edge of the comic due to age and light exposure, some dent and pieces missing to the cover and line on the paper.
