1858 1d Rose-red Pl.27. Very fine envelope sent from Carmunnock, Glasgow to Langholm bearing a 1d rose-red Pl.27 (SG 40) lettered AF, neatly cancelled by a crisp black, boxed "CARMUNNOCK" Scots local cancellation (Type VIII). Backstamped by a blue Glasgow transit cds for MR.12.1858, and a Langholm arrival cds for the following day. Light horizontal crease affecting adhesive nevertheless a presentable example of this rare Scots local cancellation. Alcock scarcity rating G. Ex. "Claymore".
