1859 1d Rose-red Pl.34. Fine envelope sent from Elderslie to Paisley bearing a 1d rose-red Pl.34 (SG 40) lettered MJ, neatly tied by an "ELDERSLIE" Scots local cancellation (Type VIII). Backstamped by a blue Paisley arrival cds for JY.6.1859. Horizontal crease running through adhesive and top right corner fault on stamp nevertheless a presentable example of this difficult cancellation. Alcock scarcity rating F. Ex. "Claymore".
