1952 (30 JA) cover from South Georgia to Oregan, USA, correctly franked at 3d foreign rate by 1946 'Thick Map' ½d black and green, exceptionally showing variety Missing 'I' in 'Shetland Is' (vignette plate '1', R1/2), and 1948-49 'Thin Map' 2½d black and deep blue, tied by individual fine strikes of type SG8 cds, with additional strike alongside. Philatelically inspired, still a very desirable item with any of the 'Thick Map' varieties rare on cover.
