The Military Medal awarded to Corporal, later 2nd Lieutenant Frank Axtel, 2nd Battalion Middlesex Regiment and Royal West Kents for an action in August 1917 at Railway Wood in the Ypres Salient during the Battle of Passchendaele comprising, Military Medal, GVR, (6313 Cpl W.F. Frank Axtel landed in France with the 2nd Battalion the Middlesex Regiment on the 11th of January 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of the 2nd of November 1917 and was Commissioned 26th of June 1918.
