The Casualty British War Medal awarded to Captain Geoffrey Charles Townroe “D” Company 1st/4th Battalion South Lancashire Regiment who was Killed by a Piece of Shell which hit him in the heart on the 8th of September 1917 while in charge of a working party digging a cable trench comprising 1914-1920 British War Medal (Capt. G.C. Townroe), lightly toned very fine (1)

Captain Townroe was the son of Charles Edward and Mary Dakeyne Townroe of Nottingham, he is Buried in Plot 8 Row G Grave 8 at the Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, near Ypres, Belgium, he was 22 years old when he was Killed.
Sold with Copy Medal Index Card Copy, He is also entitled to a Victory Medal, Probate, he left £6,369 8s 6d. Commonwealth War Graves information and details from the Nottingham County Council Roll of Honour with a copy photograph of his headstone.
