The Queen’s South Africa Medal awarded to Private Alfred Lloyd, 2nd Battalion The Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment, who was Invalided To England in August 1900 comprising, Queen’s South Africa medal, 1899-1902, 3rd type, 5 clasps, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek, (5411 Pte A. Lloyd, The Queen’s.), impressed naming, very fine (1)
Alfred Lloyd, a 18-year-old native of Hampshire a Labourer by trade, joined the Queen’s Regiment Royal West Surrey on the 14th of August 1897. He Served in South Africa from the 20th of October 1899 to the 20th of August when he was Invalided Home (Medal Roll Confirms), He then served In India from the 15th of March 1901 to the 14th of March 1905 returning Home until Discharge to the Reserve on the 10th of August 1905. He was finally Discharged, Time Completed on the 13th of August 1909.
