A Father and Son Royal Navy Group, Both Receiving the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal awarded to Writer 1st Class Walter Hector Roache, H.M.S. Duke of Wellington, and his Son Petty Officer Writer Charles Gordon Roache, H.M.S. Egmont. Comprising:

1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (30845 C.G. Roache. 3 WR. R.N.), Royal Navy Long Service & Good Conduct Medal, GVR, (M.30845 C.G. Roache. P.O. Wr. H.M.S. Egmont), LS&GC service number rubbed otherwise all very fine (3)
Walter Hector Roache was born on the 5th of November 1857 in Portsea, Portsmouth, Hants, he joined the Royal Navy on the 27th of April 1877. He served on many ships and shore establishments. He was Pensioned to Shore from H.M.S. Duke of Wellington on the 5th of July 1899 returning from Shore on the 27th of March 1901 until the 21st of May 1907.
Charles Gordon Roache was born on the 30th of April 1900 in Portsmouth Hants, he joined the Royal Navy on the 30th of April 1918 stating that he was a Shop Assistant. He served during the Great War on H.M.S. Kent, receiving the British War and Victory Medals, In early 1919 Kent was deployed to Vladivostok to support the Siberian Intervention against the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War. She did little militarily there, although she contributed some crewmen to man gunboats supporting the Whites opposing the Bolsheviks.
During his later service he served on many ships and shore establishments, receiving the LS&GC whilst serving Aboard H.M.S. Egmont in July 1933. He was Pensioned to Shore on the 29th of April 1940 re-enlisting on the 30th of April 1940 until finally released on the 4th of October 1945 from his last establishment, H.M.S. Dolphin, the Submarine School.
Sold with relevant Service Papers, Copy Medal Roll and genealogical information confirming father and son.
