Description
An interesting Africa General Service Medal 1902-1956, EVII, one clasp, Somaliland 1908-10, awarded to Leading Seaman Alfred Ernest Sainsbury Casey, H.M.S. Hyacinth, who subsequently Died from an Appendicitis whilst serving aboard H.M.S. Victory on the 28th of December 1914. (215727. A.E.S. Casey. LG, H.M.S. Hyacinth), very fine (1)
Alfred Ernest Sainsbury Casey was born on the 4th of March 1886 in Portsmouth, he joined the Royal Navy on the 4th of March 1904. He served aboard H.M.S. Hyacinth from the 1st of April 1909to the 2nd of June 1911. He was posted to H.M.S. Victory I on the 4th of July 1914 and Died of an appendicitis and Royal Navl Hospital Haslar on the 18th of December 1914, he is buried in Portsmouth (Kingston) Cemetery – Dashwood’s Plot 9 row 25.
