Birmingham, Ottley’s early 19th. century series after Kempson’s Birmingham Buildings white‑metal Halfpenny, the Barracks, rev. Arms of Birmingham, edge plain, 29mm/9.34gm. (DH 179). Another but obv. the general Hospital, 29mm/8.79gm. (DH 182). Another but obv. the Blue School, 29mm/9.4gm. (DH 196). Another but obv. the Blue Charity School, 29mm/8.98gm. (DH 199). Another but obv. the Free School, 29mm/9.1gm. (DH 201). Another but obverse the Birmingham Theatre, 29mm/8.33gm. (DH 217), first Extremely Fine, rest good Extremely Fine with original lustre. All extremely rare ‘RRR’[6].
First ex F S Cokayne Col., his ticket –- ex Fredrick Lincoln No. 1 Col. sold Glendining’s 12 Feb 1934; from AHB 25 May 1934 for 8/-. Acquired AHB c. 1946. Rest, apart from last, ex DNW Nov 2017, lot 345, bought J.A. Bobbe August 1998.
