Birmingham, Henry Hickman, (ironmonger) Halfpenny 1792, Bust of John Howard, the prison reformer, rev. HH cypher, edge PAYABLE AT H. HICKMANS WAREHOUSE BIRMINGHAM, 30mm/13.25mm. (DH 144). Another but edge plain. 29mm/11.41gm. (DH 144b). Another as first, but die has been polished, almost rubbing out second, lower button hole, 29.5mm/11.53gm. (DH 144/145), Another but lower button hole completely polished out 29.5mm/12.17gm. (DH 145). Another the same as last but in brass, 29.5mm/11.43gm. (DH 145), all good Extremely Fine except for last brass example which is yellow toned, good Very Fine; DH 144 and 144/145 toned, DH 144b and 145 with quite a lot of original lustre, DH 144b extremely rare edge ‘RRR’, polished die specimens also extremely rare as is off‑metal specimen ‘RRR’.
