Description
Emsworth, John Stride (Grocer & Tea-dealer) bronzed Halfpenny 1793, Sailing ship right, rev. Britannia with anchor seated by globe and crowned British lion, edge PAYABLE AT THE WAREHOUSE OF JOHN STRIDE, 28mm/8.12gm. (DH 9). Another similar but dated 1794, 29mm/8.49gm. (DH 10). Another, but obv. a dove and cornucopia, and edge CURRENT EVERYWHERE, 29mm/9.67gm. (DH 11). Another but edge PAYABLE IN HULL AND IN LONDON, 29mm/10.21gm. (DH 12b). Another the same but edge CURRENT EVERYWHERE, 29.5mm/10.51gm. (DH 12c), all good Extremely Fine, first bronzed and rest with lustre and reflective surfaces – particularly last which is iridescent and proof‑like. First ‘RRR’. [5]
